Infusion Therapy Services

Infusion therapy is the administration of therapeutic medications. The Washington Regional Infusion Center offers outpatient infusion therapy services seven days a week. The Infusion Center is located inside Washington Regional Medical Center and is staffed by specially trained nurses who collaborate with each patient’s provider to implement their individual treatment plan. Patients receiving infusion therapy must have a treatment order from a provider and a scheduled appointment. Infusion therapy services include:

  • Hydration or IV fluid therapy
  • Blood or blood product transfusions
  • IV administration, subcutaneous, or intramuscular injection of medications
  • Administration of biologic medications and therapies
  • Therapeutic phlebotomy
  • Administration of other medications and therapies, as requested by a provider

What to Expect

Depending on the treatment, an infusion therapy appointment may take several hours to complete. For the comfort of our patients, the Infusion Center offers spacious rooms each equipped with an oversized recliner and a TV to help patients relax and pass the time. Patients are encouraged to bring food and drinks from home. A complimentary selection of snacks and beverages will also be available. Family members or care providers are welcome to stay in the patient’s room during treatment or sit in our comfortable waiting area.
