Washington Regional Spine Program

Washington Regional Medical Center is one of only two hospitals in Arkansas to be certified in Spine Surgery by The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest quality accreditation and certification body in health care.

The goal of the Washington Regional Spine Program, a part of the Washington Regional J.B. Hunt Transport Services Neuroscience Institute, is to help patients live a life free of pain and get back to doing the activities they enjoy. Our providers partner with patients and, through joint decision making, work together to find the best course of treatment for each individual given their specific condition, overall health and best possible outcomes.

With an emphasis on conservative spine care, non-surgical treatment options are always explored first. If surgery is the best treatment option, our neurosurgeons are renowned experts in performing complex spine surgeries to treat degenerative conditions affecting the spine, spinal deformities and tumors, and traumatic spine injuries.

Complex health problems such as neck or back pain often require the expertise of multiple spine specialists. Washington Regional’s Spine Program encompasses a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals who work collaboratively to treat disorders and injuries of the spine. The team includes experts in:

  • Conservative spine care, including physical therapy & rehabilitation
  • Interventional pain management
  • Neurosurgery

Neurosurgery

For some patients, surgery may offer the best treatment option. Our spine surgeons at the Washington Regional Spine program are neurosurgeons that are specially trained to provide the most complex procedures using the latest technology. Surgical treatment options may range from outpatient minimally invasive procedures such as discectomy and laminotomy, to minimally invasive fusion and artificial spinal disk surgery. More complex surgeries include multi-level instrumentation and fusion for traumatic fracture stabilization, spinal deformity correction and resection of tumors. We treat each patient with a custom-tailored approach to suit their specific condition. With such a broad array of treatment options, our program takes pride in its ability to provide comprehensive care within our community.

Spinal surgeries are offered for a variety of conditions including:
