Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Fusion

The sacroiliac (SI) joint is a C-shaped joint that connects the lower spine to the top of the pelvis. Some people may have pain or dysfunction with their SI joints due to a variety of causes such as trauma, prior surgeries, postpartum issues or differences in each person’s anatomy.

If other treatments have been ineffective, SI joint fusion may be recommended. SI joint fusion is a minimally invasive procedure to provide stability to the joint using titanium implants. The Washington Regional Spine Program offers a variety of treatment options including SI joint fusion to help patients live a life free of pain and get back to doing the activities they enjoy.
