vNOTES Hysterectomy

Washington Regional offers a new level of minimally invasive hysterectomy surgery. This advanced procedure — known as vNOTES, or vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery — offers many benefits for patients, including:

  • No visible scars
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Less postoperative pain
  • Faster recovery time

In a vNOTES procedure, your HerHealth physician operates with the help of a tiny camera and uses specialized instruments inserted through the vagina instead of making incisions in your abdomen. The surgery is done under general anesthesia, which means you will be asleep and will not feel anything during the procedure.

vNOTES lets you avoid any abdominal incisions, which are still required for laparoscopic and robotic hysterectomies. And, compared to traditional vaginal hysterectomies, vNOTES can provide better surgical visibility for your doctor and increased access to remove the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries if needed.

After the vNOTES procedure, you may be able to go home as early as the same day, with a follow-up appointment with your physician a few weeks later.

Only a physician trained in vNOTES can determine whether it is the appropriate procedure for a patient. All HerHealth physicians are specially trained in performing vNOTES hysterectomy. Request an appointment to learn more and find out if vNOTES is right for you.
