Washington Regional Recognized for Stroke Care Excellence

Washington Regional was one of 12 hospitals recognized by the Arkansas Department of Health for excellence in stroke care. The awards were given to hospitals for providing defect-free stroke care (85 percent or higher adherence) based on performance measures as documented in the Arkansas Stroke Registry between July 2015 and June 2016.

Defect-free care is based on the seven American Heart Association/American Stroke Association achievement measures of the Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Patient Management Tool. These measures are benchmarked according to the standards of evidence-based stroke care guidelines to ensure stroke patients receive appropriate and timely care.

Washington Regional, a Certified Primary Stroke Center, has provided care for more than 700 stroke patients in the past year. Receiving care at a Primary Stroke Center has been shown to improve patients’ survival rates.
