UAMS/Washington Regional Graduate Medical Education

Washington Regional Medical Center and the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences (UAMS) Northwest Regional Campus have partnered to create up to 92 new graduate medical education positions at Washington Regional by 2030. Residents receive training at Washington Regional Medical Center’s state-of-the-art facilities in Fayetteville, Arkansas, under the supervision of faculty members who are dedicated to providing excellent patient care while training the next generation of health care specialists.

The first residents in the newly accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program arrived in summer of 2023. In the coming years, Washington Regional will offer additional residency programs in emergency medicine, neurology, family medicine, general surgery and transitional year. Fellowships will be created in cardiology, infectious disease, nephrology, pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Washington Regional is located in Northwest Arkansas which is one of the fastest growing areas of the country. The area is considered to be medically underserved based on Arkansas Department of Health classifications. By growing the number of advanced medical education and training opportunities in Northwest Arkansas, UAMS and Washington Regional will improve access to quality health care for patients in the region.
