Spiritual Care Team

Beth Snyder Jones has served as the director of spiritual care services and clinical pastoral education (CPE) supervisor educator at Washington Regional since 2021. Beth is a board-certified CPE supervisor educator, clinical chaplain and pastoral counselor. She has a Master of Arts in Theological Studies and is a certified trauma professional. Beth has served as a chaplain in Northwest Arkansas hospitals and hospices for 12 years, specializing in trauma, NICU and pediatrics. Beth grew up in Atlanta, with a few years in Florida and Rhode Island. After 20 years in Northwest Arkansas, she proudly calls Fayetteville home. Beth enjoys cooking, hiking, watching college football and spending time with her husband, Scott, and their young adult children.

Charlie Brown, PhD is a board-certified clinical chaplain and earned a doctorate in counseling and philosophy with an emphasis on end-of-life spiritual care. He has served patients and families at Washington Regional family for over 15 years and now serves with the palliative care team. Charlie is happily married to Karen, his wife of 47 years. The couple has two daughters and seven grandsons.

Laurie Schuler holds a Master of Science in Physical Therapy as well as a Master of Divinity. She is a board-certified clinical chaplain with over 10 years of experience in hospital and hospice chaplaincy. She has worked at a major trauma center in Houston as well as other hospitals and hospices in Northwest Arkansas. She joined the team at Washington Regional in July 2023. When she is not working, Laurie enjoys being out on the hiking trails with her husband, Bob, and her golden retriever, Laddie.

Rev. Brian Schwammlein completed his clinical pastoral education training at Washington Regional before joining as staff in 2021. He is the process of completing board certification as a supervisor educator and clinical chaplain. He studied Christian thought and contemporary culture in seminary. Brian worked in vocational ministry for over 30 years, specializing in leadership. Brian grew up in Asia and Europe, and has lived in a variety of places in the U.S. He and his family feel at home in Fayetteville. Brian and his wife, Jennifer, have four children and have faced some of life’s biggest challenges and victories together. He enjoys FC Bayern Munich soccer, college football, skiing and going on adventures with his family.

Fara Ferguson holds a Master of Arts in Ministry in Culture and completed her clinical pastoral education training in Northwest Arkansas. She serves as a volunteer chaplain and EMT for Washington County Search and Rescue. Fara’s ties to Washington Regional go back to being born at the old hospital location on College Avenue in Fayetteville. Fara enjoys working with the elderly, quilting and reading. In her spare time, Fara raises Irish Wolfhounds, Silky Terriers, American Quarter Horses and endangered poultry breeds.

Dennis Hargiss’ love for spiritual care and chaplaincy reaches back nearly 50 years. He holds a Master of Divinity, completed his clinical pastoral education training at Washington Regional and has certifications in yoga and meditation. He has a rich educational history both as a learner and professor. Dennis is currently pursuing ordination and a doctorate degree. In his free time, Dennis enjoys meditation, running, biking and forest bathing with his beloved, Anne.

Liz Larkin completed her clinical pastoral education training in Northwest Arkansas and is pursuing certification as a clinical chaplain and supervisor educator. She earned a Master of Divinity and has a background in communication disorders and neurodivergence. Liz is a native of Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Liz has two young adult children: a son in Atlanta, GA, and a daughter in Rogers, AR. She is a self-proclaimed foodie and enjoys reading, taking nature walks and traveling.

Diana Petersen earned a Master of Education and is pursuing board certification as a clinical chaplain and supervisor educator. She completed her clinical pastoral education training and master’s level seminary education in Northwest Arkansas. Diana grew up in a career military family stationed overseas. She is bilingual and speaks Spanish. Diana has raised a passel of children and enjoys nature along the beautiful trails of Northwest Arkansas.

Paul Woodhouse has been a health care chaplain for 30 years. He participated in the first clinical pastoral education program at Washington Regional, earning board certification as a clinical chaplain. He served as Washington Regional’s hospice chaplain for 22 years and was instrumental in raising awareness in the medical community of the value of effective end-of-life care for patients and their families. Paul has a Master of Arts in Theology and is a clinical fellow in hospice and palliative care.
