Supervised Exercise Therapy for Peripheral Artery Disease Patients (SET PAD)
Supervised Exercise Therapy for Peripheral Artery Disease Patients (SET PAD)
Supervised exercise therapy (SET), offered by Washington Regional's Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program, part of Walker Heart Institute, is an outpatient hospital service that combines education and counseling with a structured exercise program. SET can provide many benefits for those with peripheral artery disease (PAD), including:
- Improved walking time and distance without pain
- Improved ability to complete daily tasks
- Education on health habits to decrease risk factors
- Improved quality of life
After an exercise assessment and consultation regarding nutritional habits and risk factors, participants will receive education and counseling on healthy habits and engage in a structured exercise program.
Although there is no cure for PAD, healthy habits and exercise can help prevent the disease from progressing.
