RN Residency Program
Residency Program
Washington Regional is the first hospital in Northwest Arkansas to partner with the Vizient Nurse Residency Program™ (NRP), endorsed by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. It is currently implemented in some of the nation’s most respected hospitals such as Duke Health System, Johns Hopkins Hospital and UCLA Medical Center.
The residency program establishes a series of learning and work experiences designed to assist nursing graduates as they transition into their first professional roles and become leaders. The program is intended for nurses with direct care roles in the acute care hospital setting. Transition experiences emphasize the development of the clinical and leadership skills necessary for the advanced beginner nurse to be successful as a full partner on the health care team.
How is the program structured?
Washington Regional’s RN Residency Program is one year in length with several cohorts that begin throughout the year. Clinical orientation will be provided by an expert preceptor with monthly seminars that present curriculum for assisting in professional development. Residents will be guided through the completion of an evidence-based project to develop knowledge of how to impact their nursing practice daily and produce quality outcomes. During this year, the organization will be monitoring the resident’s progress to help ensure they are receiving the support they need during this very important time of their career.
Residents will be a full-time employee with competitive pay and benefits available.
