Washington Regional to Assume Operations of Physicians’ Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville

Washington Regional Medical Center has entered into an agreement to assume operations of Physicians’ Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas, effective December 1, 2025. The facility will be renamed Washington Regional Physicians’ Specialty Hospital and marks a strategic expansion of Washington Regional’s services, reinforcing its dedication to improving access to health care and addressing the needs of the Northwest Arkansas community.

Physicians’ Specialty Hospital, located at 3873 Parkview Drive, has been part of the Northwest Health system since 2016. The 20-bed facility houses five operating rooms, a procedure room, an imaging suite, a laboratory, and emergency care services.

This expansion will enable Washington Regional to grow its surgical capacity to provide additional same-day surgical procedures and those that require overnight hospitalization. The new facility will specialize in orthopedic, spine and other outpatient elective surgeries, as well as emergency care.

Washington Regional’s surgical services department currently performs more than 30,000 surgeries and procedures annually between its main campus and its North Hills Surgery Center.

“Assuming operations of Physicians’ Specialty Hospital represents a strategic investment in the future of health care in Northwest Arkansas by Washington Regional,” said Larry Shackelford, Washington Regional President and CEO. “The addition of this campus will allow us to collaborate more closely with surgeons in our community to expand capacity for same-day and overnight surgical services. Patients can expect the same high quality, patient-centered care at the Physician’s Specialty Hospital facility that they are accustomed to receiving at Washington Regional Medical Center and North Hills Surgery Center. This expansion of our operational footprint demonstrates Washington Regional’s commitment to meeting the growing needs of our patients while strengthening our dedication to clinical excellence and innovation.”

Washington Regional will provide ongoing updates to team members, medical staff, patients, and the broader community as the transition approaches.
