Washington Regional Recognized for Patient Safety Excellence

Washington Regional Medical Center recently earned Healthgrades’ Patient Safety Excellence Award™ for 2014 — the only hospital in Northwest Arkansas and one of only four hospitals in the state to do so. This distinction places Washington Regional within the top 10 percent of all hospitals evaluated by Healthgrades for excellent performance in safeguarding patients from serious, potentially preventable complications during their hospital stays.

“Patient safety has always been a top priority at Washington Regional, and this most recent recognition underscores the continued commitment of our employees, nurses and physicians to serve our community with the highest level of quality care," says Bill Bradley, Washington Regional president and CEO.

Healthgrades, a leading nationwide online resource center for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals, uses objective quality measures like mortality and complication rates to let consumers know how patients fared¬ during their stay in a particular hospital. Based on how well patients did for specific conditions and procedures, hospitals receive ratings from 5 stars (better than expected) to 1 star (worse than expected).

Washington Regional received a total of nine 5-star ratings, more than twice as many as any other area hospital, as well as three quality awards, which no other area hospital received. Washington Regional’s awards include those for Patient Safety Excellence, Coronary Interventional Excellence and Joint Replacement Excellence.
