Washington Regional Receives Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence
Washington Regional Medical Center is a recipient of the 2018 Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence. Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson presented the honor to Washington Regional President/CEO Larry Shackelford during the 24th Annual Awards Celebration for the Governor’s Quality Award Program on Thursday, Sept. 13, in Little Rock.
The goal of the Governor’s Quality Award Program is to encourage Arkansas organizations to engage in continuous quality improvement, which leads to performance excellence, and to provide significant recognition to those organizations.
Washington Regional Medical Center, along with J.V. Manufacturing, Inc. of Springdale, Springdale Water Utilities, and Unity Health – White County Medical Center of Searcy, took top honors in receiving the Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence. This level of award is not presented annually. Before this year, only 21 other organizations had won at this level since the program’s inception in 1995, including just four other hospital systems.
“Washington Regional is extremely pleased to be recognized for quality,” Shackelford says. “This recognition demonstrates the commitment of our team members to provide the highest level of care for our patients as well as meaningful outreach programs for our community.”
Terri Church, Washington Regional’s Director of Quality Management, says many members of the Washington Regional team participated in the year-long application process for the Governor’s Quality Award program. “We found the process to be very valuable in allowing us to examine the ways our team works hard every day to express Washington Regional’s mission, vision and values.” Church says.
