Washington Regional Earns Recognition for Role in Patient Quality Program

Washington Regional was recently recognized by Arkansas Medicaid and the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC) as part of the annual Inpatient Quality Incentive (IQI) program. Washington Regional was honored for its dedication and consistent participation in the IQI program since 2007 and for its efforts toward improving the health of Arkansans.

Through a partnership between Arkansas Medicaid, AFMC, and the Arkansas Hospital Association, the IQI program was developed to assess the quality of care that hospitals provide their patients.

“Washington Regional’s mission is to improve the health of people in the communities we serve through high quality care,” said Dr. Anthony Williams, Washington Regional’s chief quality officer. “Participating in the Inpatient Quality Incentive program is just one way we fulfill that mission. We continuously work to improve outcomes for our patients, and our dedication to quality care is part of our vision of being both the best place for our patients to receive care and the best place for our team members to provide care.”

The IQI program requires hospitals to meet specific goals for a number of quality measures. Since its launch in 2006, Arkansas Medicaid has awarded financial incentives to participating hospitals that demonstrate significant improvements in health outcomes.
