Washington Regional Earns Awards for Outstanding Stroke Care from Arkansas Department of Health

Washington Regional earned three awards from the Arkansas Department of Health for outstanding performance in stroke patient care from July 2024 – June 2025. The awards recognize Arkansas hospitals and ambulance services and are based on key performance measures from the Arkansas Stroke Registry. Awards are given in three classes: Diamond, Ruby and Pearl.

Washington Regional is the only large hospital in Northwest Arkansas to achieve a Diamond award, the highest award possible, for defect-free stroke care. Defect-free care is an aggregated metric based on the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Coverdell performance measures for appropriate and timely stroke care. Washington Regional also earned awards for stroke band documentation, which aids in better data collection for quality improvement, and door-to-CT times. Faster door-to-CT times improve the likelihood of positive outcomes for patients with stroke.

Washington Regional is the only hospital in Arkansas to hold Joint Commission Advanced Certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and is the only hospital in the region to provide 24/7 in-person care from stroke experts specially trained in stroke diagnosis, care and rehabilitation.
