Washington Regional Donates Mobile Dental Clinic to BMRHC

Washington Regional Medical Center recently donated its Mobile Dental Clinic to Boston Mountain Rural Health Center (BMRHC) on August 26. According to Karen McIntosh, VP of Care Transitions at Washington Regional, about five years ago, the healthcare system was able to establish a Mobile Dental Clinic through grant support from the Walmart Foundation, Blue & You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas and Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation. During the last five years, Washington Regional provided dental care to more than 7,100 underserved community members. McIntosh says, “Recently, however, it became apparent that sustainable financial support would not be available to continue operation of the program. However, we are pleased to transfer the Mobile Dental Clinic to Boston Mountain Rural Health, who will use it to expand their mission of providing dental services to the communities they serve.”

Debbie Ackerson, Chief Executive Officer of BMRHC, says “This generous donation will allow BMRHC to further expand its dental health services to individuals in our rural service areas who experience barriers to care. We sincerely thank Washington Regional for this generous gift.” Ackerson states that the Mobile Dental Clinic will be operational on October 16.
