Washington Regional Among Nation’s Top Performing Hospitals for Heart Attack Care

Washington Regional has earned the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2026. Washington Regional is one of only 350 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor. This marks the third consecutive year that Washington Regional has achieved the Platinum designation.

The award recognizes Washington Regional’s commitment to implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that the hospital met an aggressive goal of treating these patients according to American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations. To receive the Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award, Washington Regional demonstrated sustained achievement in the registry for two consecutive years, 2024 and 2025, and performed at the highest level on specific performance measures.

“This national recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teams and their focus on delivering timely, guideline-driven care for patients experiencing a heart attack,” said Dr. Zubair Ahmed, Washington Regional’s medical director of interventional cardiology. “Through our participation in the Chest Pain – MI Registry, Washington Regional uses data and evidence-based practices to continually strengthen the care we provide and support our mission of improving the health of the communities we serve.”

“We are proud to present Washington Regional with the Platinum Performance Achievement Award in recognition of its national leadership and steadfast commitment to meeting comprehensive performance measures in patient care,” said Leslie L. Davis, PhD, ANP-BC, FACC, chair of the NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Steering Subcommittee. “Washington Regional’s achievement reflects its ongoing focus on providing high-quality, guideline-driven care for patients who experience a heart attack and helping ensure they receive exceptional cardiovascular care.”

The Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry empowers healthcare teams to consistently treat heart attack patients according to the most current, science-based guidelines and establishes a national standard for improving the quality, safety and outcomes of care provided for patients with coronary artery disease, specifically high-risk heart attack patients.
