Washington Regional Again Achieves Highest Grade Possible in Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades
Fayetteville, Ark. — Washington Regional Medical Center has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade in the Leapfrog Group’s spring 2025 Hospital Safety Grades, maintaining its designation as a Straight A hospital. To achieve Straight A status, a hospital must earn five or more consecutive A grades. The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit focused on patient safety, assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on performance measures reflecting preventable errors, accidents, injuries and infections. Washington Regional is one of only three Straight A hospitals in Arkansas.
“We are proud to once again achieve Leapfrog’s highest grade, which recognizes our commitment to excellence and patient safety,” said Washington Regional President and CEO Larry Shackelford. “The safety of our patients is our top priority, and this recognition highlights the dedication of our team members to fulfilling our mission of providing compassionate, high quality care to those we serve.”
“Achieving an A Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to Washington Regional, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring. To learn more about Washington Regional’s full grade details and to find valuable tips for staying safe in the hospital, visit HospitalSafetyGrade.org.HospitalSafetyGrade.org.
