Dr. Mark Thomas Named Vice President and Medical Director of Population Health

Mark S. Thomas, M.D., has been named Vice President and Medical Director of Population Health for Washington Regional Medical System. Formerly Vice President of Population Management, Dr. Thomas leads a team responsible for patients’ experience of care as they transition from the hospital back into the community. In addition, Dr. Thomas continues to lead Washington Regional’s transition to value-based care by focusing on continual quality improvement, efficient use of healthcare resources and patient satisfaction.

He earned a medical degree from the University of Massachusetts and completed his residency at the University of Oklahoma. A board-certified family physician, Dr. Thomas has been a member of the medical staff at Washington Regional since 1996 and served in a number of leadership roles, including Chief of Staff. He will continue to serve as a palliative care physician and as Medical Director of the Washington Regional System Clinics.
