The Washington Regional Emergency Department, located within Washington Regional Medical Center at 3215 N. Northhills Blvd. in Fayetteville, is prepared 24/7 to provide the care you need with emergency medicine specialists. As the only Level II Trauma Center in Northwest Arkansas, Washington Regional provides the highest level of trauma care in the region, as well as the most advanced stroke treatments with the region’s only stroke specialists, and the largest, multi-specialty cardiac care team in Northwest Arkansas. The emergency department features:

Triage
How quickly you are seen by a physician depends on the triage process. When arriving at the Emergency Department, a triage nurse will perform a basic assessment of symptoms and determine the severity of illness. A patient’s order of treatment in the Emergency Department is based on the severity of the illness, not on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Comprehensive Stroke Center
Washington Regional Medical Center is the only hospital in the state to hold certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center from the Joint Commission. As a comprehensive stroke center, Washington Regional provides the highest level of stroke care in Northwest Arkansas. Stroke patients have access to advanced treatments without having to be transferred to another facility and can receive 24/7 in-person care from stroke experts. Washington Regional is also the only hospital in the region to offer advanced 24/7 neurosurgical care, advanced imaging and minimally invasive stroke treatment options, such as thrombectomy.

Senior-Friendly Accreditation
Washington Regional’s Emergency Department has achieved the American College of Emergency Physicians Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA). The designation recognizes emergency departments with policies and procedures in place to meet the needs of older patients and improve outcomes.

Emergency Medicine Providers
Emergency Medicine Providers specialize in treating patients with acute illnesses or injuries. Their primary role is to evaluate the severity of symptoms, resuscitate, if necessary, stabilize and begin intervention for diagnosis or treatment of patients. The providers will determine whether the patient requires admission to the hospital or can be discharged with recommendations for follow up care if applicable.
