About the Emergency Medicine Residency Program

The UAMS/Washington Regional Emergency Medicine Residency Program was created to develop highly skilled, empathetic, professional and resilient physicians who excel in the practice of emergency medicine.

Residents receive training at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, which was named the #1 hospital in Arkansas by U.S. News & World Report for multiple consecutive years. Residents practice under the supervision of faculty members who are dedicated to delivering health care to the diverse population of Northwest Arkansas and the surrounding areas in one of the state’s busiest emergency departments.

The program is structured to support six residents per class, allowing for individualized support and mentorship. The partnership between the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Washington Regional provides residents with the benefits of being part of a health sciences university and opportunities to practice in a community hospital.
