I am one of the night ER Seceretaties.
How long have you been at Washington Regional?
Hired on December 27, 1993--it has been 19 years.
What do you like best about your job?
The fact that we are helping others, and my co-workers. We all work as a team (actually, it's more like a family) helping the sick. I have learned so much watching & listening.
Why did you choose Washington Regional as an employer?
A career in exchange for a good retirement, when the times comes. Plus, I get the satisfaction of seeing many, many patients receive the help they need to get well.
Describe your family.
I am the third oldest of 10. I have four sons of mine and one son of my husband's, Stan. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandgirls, and three wonderful daughters-in law. I love them all.
What are your hobbies?
They have changed over the years. Now, I enjoy getting my family together for a cookout and swimming. I love playing games with the grandkids or teaching them how to cook and bake.
What is something that people would be surprised to learn about you?
I'm shy. I could sit in a crowd and just listen all day, but I have to force myself to be included in the conversation.
What do you like best about Northwest Arkansas?
Population is still small enough to be able to enjoy the beautiful country and the blue sky. I have such a view from my home, with mountains all around us, but it's not too far from the city.
What customer service skills help you manage your job duties?
My dad and mom always told me that "If you do a job, do it right or don't do it at all." I challenge myself to know my job and do it to the best of my abilities.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Smiles from not just the patients, but those I work with. A smile melts the hardness of any job.
