What is Digital X-ray?
Conventional X-ray uses film much like most cameras once used film. But advanced technology has brought us to the digital era. Just as we now have digital cameras that capture our pictures and give us instant results, we can now also take digital X-rays which give us immediate images that are available to view on a screen and are able to be stored as a digital file.
Why is it preferable to conventional X-ray?
Digital X-rays are preferable to conventional X-rays for many reasons:
- Because there is no film to develop, images are immediately available for review.
- Digital X-ray is more forgiving for images that are overexposed or underexposed which when using conventional X-ray would have to be redone.
- Images captured digitally can be enhanced and manipulated, creating clearer images which allow for better interpretation.
- Digital X-ray eliminates the cost involved with processing, managing and storing X-ray files.
